WARRIOR FOOTBALL SPOILS HOMECOMING AT FDU-MADISON

MADISON, NJ – The Lycoming College football team showed no signs of folding after last week’s loss to nationally ranked Widener University, rebounding this week to shutout FDU-Madison 47-0. The Warrior offense found their groove late in the first quarter and posted 28 points prior to the half. The rest of the game was smooth sailing as Lycoming added a score in the third period and two more in the fourth to make the final 47-0.

Joe Feerrar (Sr./Jersey Shore, PA; Jersey Shore) had an outstanding day behind center, connecting on 21-of-31 of his passes for a total of 279 yards. He also threw three touchdowns and no interceptions before taking a much-deserved rest after only one series in the final frame. Tim Deasey (Sr./Norwood, PA; Interboro) led the ground attack, piling up 112 yards on 23 carries and scoring a pair of touchdowns. Tom Zulkowski (Sr./Frackville, PA; Cardinal Brennan) led the receiving corps with eight catches for 82 yards. Kyle Bingaman (Sr./Lykens, PA; Upper Dauphin) compiled 107 receiving yards on six catches, including the Warriors’ first touchdown of the game.

Ricky Lannetti (So./Philadelphia, PA; Father Judge) had a big day on special teams. Midway through the fourth quarter, Lannetti returned back-to-back Devil punts for touchdowns to officially make the game a blowout. His first score covered 61 yards and his second return was for 69 yards. Overall on the day, Lannetti returned eight punts for a total of 191 yards.

Defensively, Lycoming held FDU-Madison to just 119 yards of total offense, including just 39 yards receiving. Ryan Rupprecht (Sr./Southampton, PA; Archbishop Wood) and Zach Latsha (Jr./Sunbury, PA; Line Mountain) led the unit with five tackles each.

The Warriors first got on the board when Feerrar connected with Bingaman for a 48-yard touchdown pass with 2:30 to play in the opening quarter. Deasey stretched the lead to 14-0 early in the second quarter, finding paydirt from 24 yards out. Feerrar added two more scoring passes to Chris Dauber (Sr./Jersey Shore, PA; Jersey Shore) and Ray Withelder (So./Aston, PA; Sun Valley) before the half was over to give Lycoming a 28-0 advantage at the intermission.

Midway through the third quarter, Deasey tallied his second touchdown run of the day, crossing the goal line from 14 yards out. Lannetti then added his two punt returns for touchdowns to bring the final score to 47-0. Dave Christensen (Jr./Fairless Hills, PA; Pennsbury) made 5-of-7 extra points on the afternoon.

Ed Cracchiolo was FDU’s leading rusher with 75 yards on 21 carries. Michael Passero and Patrick O’Neill split duties at quarterback combining to go 4-of-23 on the day.

The Warriors improved to 4-1 both overall and in the MAC, while the Devils fell to 1-3 overall and in the conference. Lycoming has a bye on Oct. 13, but will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 20 when they travel to Albright College.
